Siblings Weekend

Seawolf Sibling's Weekend provides an opportunity for our students (on and off-campus students) to invite their little brothers, sisters, cousins, or neighbors (all are encompassed in the term sibling from here forward) to campus for the weekend. There will be activities to keep kids of all ages entertained with movies, crafts, tickets for athletic events, theater productions, video tournaments, karaoke, and more!

Please note that, while this weekend is generally meant to be for younger siblings ages 5-15, we welcome younger or older siblings if you’d like. Please make sure you are able to care for your younger siblings and be sure to make your older siblings aware of all campus policies before their arrival.

Save the dates for February 21-23, 2025. More information coming soon on the schedule! Watch for more information in the housing notes and Seawolf Living for registration in late 2024.

What do participants get?

Our goal is to provide safe and fun on-campus activities for our residents and their siblings. We will provide a variety of options from sporting events, theatre events, and fun at the Recreation Center, to movies, crafts, fun sibling memories, and much more! While we are providing all the events, it is up to you as to how you spend your weekend with your siblings. We will not be hosting any off-campus events, so you will not need transportation.

You will need info about all your siblings including name, age, shirt size, and emergency contact info.

What do I need to do as the SSU host?

The SSU host is responsible for obtaining permission from roommates and suitemates prior to the sibling’s arrival.

For hosts who live on campus, there is a limit of no more than four siblings per suite/room because of the fire code. Therefore, suitemates need to work out details for guests. All guests must also be registered with RA (for those living on campus).

Seawolf Siblings Weekend Mandatory Host Meetings

(Please email mo.phillips@sonoma.edu with the MTG you will be attending)

All SSU Students who have siblings attending the event must attend a thirty-minute info meeting. We will check on waivers, get info on ticketed events you and your sibling may want to participate in and give out some info about policies/goals for the weekend. Please let me know which of the following you will be attending (you only need to go to one)

Visit the link (coming soon) to sign up for the program. You will need info about all your siblings, including names, age, shirt size, and emergency contact info.

Waivers

Parents/guardians/emergency contacts will need to sign and email (or deliver at registration) back waivers in order for your siblings to participate in the program. Once we receive your registration, we will email both a campus as well as a Recreation Center waiver to the parents/guardians/emergency contacts. They will need to email the waiver back to mo.phillips@sonoma.edu

We must have waivers signed and turned in by registration in order for your sibling to participate.

FAQs

We need names and contact info for each guest’s parents/guardians /emergency contacts as well as waivers.

In addition to time spent with their SSU sibling, all siblings participating will receive a SSU Siblings Weekend t-shirt as well as other treats and other freebies throughout the weekend. We will provide all the events and activities, tickets for sporting events, entrance into the Rec Center, Maker Space, and other venues.

Pizza and snacks will be available at a few of the events throughout the weekend.

There is no cost to participate in the program or take part in the activities that we are providing.

SSU hosts and families are responsible for transportation, meals, and lodging (if not on campus). Because there is no charge for this program, the main meals are the responsibility of the SSU host.
